Composer Richard Einhorn gives a presentation
"Confronting Hearing Loss: Coping, Advocacy, and the Search for a Cure"
where he uses sound clips to demonstrate the complex, lesser known problems of serious hearing loss.
Einhorn has emerged as a prominent advocate for people with hearing loss and has been featured in several recent articles in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and other major publications. His "opera with silent film" Voices of Light has been called "a great masterpiece of contemporary music" and "a work of meticulous genius" and has been performed over 200 times by major orchestras all over the world. His latest piece, The Shooting Gallery, an evening-long multi-media collaboration with filmmaker Bill Morrison, will premiere at Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival in November of 2012.

Andy Groves, Ph.D., Baylor College of Medicine, narrates a presentation on how hearing works, what happens in the ear when hearing is damaged, how some non-mammals can restore their hearing on their own, and the research that the Hearing Restoration Project is conducting to translate what happens in non-mammals to develop a cure for hearing loss in humans.

On February 6, 2013, Cyndi Lauper performed at B.B. King Blues Club in New York City to benefit Hearing Health Foundation and our groundbreaking research toward a cure for hearing loss. The evening was MC'ed by comedian Richard Kind and included a silent auction as well as cocktail reception sponsored by VEEV Liquor.
